Industry specialisms
Working with all businesses, the College has a particularly strong offer to those in industries that are rapidly evolving and require a workforce skilled in new technologies and sustainable practices. This is particularly relevant to those in the automotive, engineering, AI and digital, healthcare, and logistics sectors.
With state-of-the-art training facilities and strong industry partnerships, NWSLC is ideally positioned to support these businesses by developing talent that is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s workplace. This includes through the recent development of new engineering facilities designed to meet modern industry demands, while use of solar power and air source pump heating supports sustainable, energy-efficient practices, ensuring students are trained in future-ready skills.
Other specialised facilities – including a hospital ward training environment, enhanced electrical tuition spaces and advanced engineering workshops – are designed to equip students with practical, in-demand skills.
Key facilities and capabilities
NWSLC’s success is built on bridging the gap between education and employment by offering hands-on learning directly within business environments. Facilities are tailored to meet industry needs, such as the MIRA Technology Institute (MTI), where future automotive engineers are trained in cutting-edge technologies like electric vehicles and autonomous systems.
The Digital Skills Academy prepares students for the fast-paced digital transformation, while the Centre for Logistics, Education and Research (CLEAR) at Magna Park delivers skills training in logistics and supply chain management, in collaboration with industry leaders like Wincanton.
These facilities, along with their Wigston and Harrowbrook campuses, provide students with real-life work experiences and ensure businesses have access to a skilled, ready-to-work talent pool.
