Key facilities and capabilities
Loughborough is home to state-of-the-art facilities including:
- UK Scale Centre: Established in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) the Centre for Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence. It drives innovative solutions to the challenges facing the UK’s logistics & supply chain capabilities.
- Loughborough Materials Characterisation Centre (LMCC): It supports researchers at the university to look the internal structure, chemical makeup and physical traits of materials down to the atomic level. It also works with researchers from other institutions to develop collaborative research links.
- Sports Facilities: The university campus is home to some of the UK's best multi-sport facilities and organsations, including the British Athletics National Performance Institute, the British Swimming National Centre, the Elite Athletic Centre and Hotel, the National Cricket Performance Centre and Louighborough University Stadium, as well as artificial and grass pitches
- National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine (NCSEM): It offers clinical services including sport & exercise medicine, orthopaedics, and cardiac & pulmonary rehabilitation.

Futures Festivals and Fairs
Loughborough's Futures Festival employability weeks and careers fairs are an opportunity to meet high calibre students and graduates in an informal environment.
Its students are keen to secure graduate roles, placement positions or internships, providing employers with a motivated pool of potential recruits.
The flagship event is the Autumn Festivals Fair, which is one of the biggest in Britain. It is open to all sectors offering all types of job opportunities, including part-time and vacation work.
The fairs are marketed to all students, across year groups and disciplines and are seen as fantastic opportunities for businesses to reach a large number of students in one go.
Case Study: Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team
Every Loughborough University undergraduate student has the opportunity to complete a placement as part of their course.
Laura Webber completed a 12-month internship with the Mercedes AGM Petronas Formula One team, and was nominated for a Loughborough University award in recognition of her achievements.
Mike Elliot, head of aerodynamics at Mercedes AMG Petronas, said: “Laura integrated so well as an intern that she was seen as a full-time employee and not as a student.”
