Loughborough is home to state-of-the-art facilities including:

  • UK Scale Centre: Established in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) the Centre for Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence. It drives innovative solutions to the challenges facing the UK’s logistics & supply chain capabilities.
  • Loughborough Materials Characterisation Centre (LMCC): It supports researchers at the university to look the internal structure, chemical makeup and physical traits of materials down to the atomic level. It also works with researchers from other institutions to develop collaborative research links.

Case Study: Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team

Every Loughborough University undergraduate student has the opportunity to complete a placement as part of their course.

Laura Webber completed a 12-month internship with the Mercedes AGM Petronas Formula One team, and was nominated for a Loughborough University award in recognition of her achievements.

Mike Elliot, head of aerodynamics at Mercedes AMG Petronas, said: “Laura integrated so well as an intern that she was seen as a full-time employee and not as a student.”
