Help to Grow: Management Case Study: A S Miles Consulting Limited
A S Miles Consulting, based in Glenfield, Leicestershire, was established in 2015, providing management consultancy services to the transport industry.
Managing director Andy Miles had seen the family business develop but growth had started to slow. He was aware that something needed to change but he lacked the confidence to do it. The ideas he had all seemed too risky…...he needed help.
Andy recognised that, although he’d previously invested in training for his employees, it was time for his own development and so he joined the Help to Grow: Management course.
It had a big impact on the business, bringing a broader perspective, new ideas, leaner management, improved task alignment and better internal communications which resulted in every employee stepping up a gear.
After completing the course, Andy went on to drive forward the business, with a 20% increase in turnover, a 4% increase in profit and work booked in 14 months ahead - rather than just 3 months ahead.
The business also benefited from more work with bigger clients and a greater complexity and variety in the work it does.
Through the course, Andy became expert at exploring new opportunities with improved communications, agility and focus, which have all contributing to the success of his business.

Case Study: LCFC: Leicester City in the Community & University of Leicester Graduate Internship Programme
The Graduate Internship Programme at the University of Leicester offered graduates from the Class of 2024 a six-week, paid work experience opportunity.
The 25-hours-a-week internship was designed to enhance graduates’ employability and support career development through practical, hands-on experience in a professional environment.
For graduates, it was set up to provide valuable workplace exposure, skills-building and insight into potential careers, significantly improving their chances of securing long-term employment.
For employers, hosting a graduate intern brings fresh ideas, additional resource for key projects, and the chance to identify future talent, all at no direct cost - the scheme is fully salary-funded and administered by the university.
Dan Mitchinson, senior manager (business development) at Leicester City in the Community, said: “Working with the University of Leicester through the Graduate Internship Programme has been a really valuable experience for Leicester City in the Community.
"The additional capacity and expertise helped us develop a season-long, community-focused media campaign, while offering the graduate meaningful industry experience.
"The process was straightforward, and the university’s support was excellent. We would highly recommend the programme to others looking to enhance their operations and nurture emerging talent”.
